The New Masjid Al-Ummah
A landmark project for Watford. Designed to be a sustainable, inclusive, and inspiring space for generations to come.
Our Mission
More Than Just a Mosque
Masjid Al-Ummah is Watford's next-generation masjid and community hub for youth and families. We are returning to the original mosque's role as a centre for worship, learning, social support, and civic engagement.
Throughout Islamic history, the masjid was never just a place of prayer. It was the community's school, its town hall, its social services centre, and its gathering place. The Prophet's Mosque (peace be upon him) served all these functions.
We are building a facility designed for the digital age—a place where every member, especially our youth, can worship, create, collaborate, and shape the future of our community.
Our Core Pillars
Worship
Five daily prayers, Jumu'ah, Taraweeh, and Eid in a welcoming space.
Youth Leadership
Empowering the next generation with Quran-based leadership skills.
Community Hub
A safe space for dialogue, social support, and civic engagement.
Digital & Creative
Merging tradition with innovation through digital literacy and arts.
Vision & Design
The new Masjid Al-Ummah is more than just a building; it's a statement of our commitment to the future. The architectural design blends modern British aesthetics with subtle Islamic geometry, creating a building that is both distinctively Muslim and harmoniously local.
Key features include:
- Dedicated youth centre and creative studio
- Multi-purpose community hall for events and sports
- Eco-friendly construction with solar energy and rain harvesting
- Open library and co-working spaces for students and professionals
- Fully accessible facilities for the elderly and disabled
